So a lot has happened over the course of the past few weeks since my last entry. Where to start...
Well as I'm sure most of you know by now, my sister's fiance got really sick a few weeks back and ended up in the hospital. As it stands now Andrew's vision has returned, his blood pressure is more or less stable, the damage to his heart was permanent but not life threatening, his kidneys aren't functioning and he will have to undergo dialysis 3 times a week for the next year. They are looking at the option of daily at-home dialysis, as an alternative method for a good number of those months until he can get a transplant. He is on the transplant list now, but has to wait for the autoimmune disease to be completely clear of his system in order to go ahead with that (hence the year of dialysis). So that's been a pretty difficult time for them as you can imagine. They made the decision to bump their wedding up from December 31, to just under two weeks from today. Monday October 8, 2007 was the arranged date. Thanksgiving Day. I think that it is pretty fitting. I probably would have said the same thing for October 7 haha, "It's the day before Thanksgiving... fitting, hey?". So you know, anywhere within a week of that date would have worked for me. And that... totally reminds me of an error calculation. 'Thanksgiving ±δ7 days' . Wow... how incredibly sad is that.
I have an Economics 204 Midterm on Friday October 5th, and then a Chem 103 Midterm on Thursday October 11. So right in that same week long period around the wedding. I am really really excited about getting to fly out to Ottawa for her wedding. Both as her brother, and from a photography standpoint! They want me to "be the photographer" for the wedding, which i am excited to be able to do. With the Canadian Dollar on par or above the USD like it has been recently, i have been scouring the internet for good deals on camera stuff. I ended up purchasing a battery grip for my camera, which slides into the camera's battery slot, and then gives you a two battery compartment on the very bottom as well as a vertical shutter release. This was a package on Amazon.com and came with two Canon batteries as well. Buying this same thing from a Canadian retail outlet would have cost somewhere around $330 CDN. I got it for $110 with S/H from the US. Not a bad bargain, and i will definitely make use of the many advantages that i get with longer battery life (not to mention that vertical shutter release!). The second set of purchasing was done today at 6:30 AM on my way out the door to school. I was on B&H's website (a renowned photography outlet) and i was planning on buying an external flash unit for the indoor wedding shots. I got a popup that informed me that their store would be closed from 5:00 PM on Tuesday - October 2 for maintenance. So i decided that i had might as well order it now and be guaranteed it for the wedding. So i picked up the Canon 430ex as well as a diffusing cone that goes on the end to give more even light distribution (Gary Fong's Lightsphere II Clear for anyone who knows/cares :). The price on that unit was a pretty decent bargain in my opinion. I got the flash and the diffuser with priority 1-2 day shipping to Canada, for ~$315 . The same flash unit and diffuser at a store here would easily sell for around $450 together (and i'd have to track it down, which can be a challenge for those diffusers i've found). So all in all, i spent some money. But i feel like i got a lot more for my money's worth =D . Plus i honestly can't wait to use it! Hahaha and my camera will look so 'tricked out' with these new doo-dads. The stuff i ordered this morning (the batteries and grip i ordered on the weeked) has already shipped and is set to arrive tomorrow already! I can't wait =)
So what else is new... School is going alright. Physics sucks. Seems to be a trend around the U of A this year... I really am enjoying Economics, Chemistry, and Engineering Mechanics (it's like Engineering Physics). But more on those later! I need sleep as it is.... PEACE-

A sunset out by the International Airport.

Summerside.

This moth that visits my lit window every night. Okay maybe it's not the SAME moth every night, but who knows!

Cheers!
Most indubitably,
