Hello again to all... 5 of you who read this. I'm very glad you do as it makes me feel like i have more friends when i get lots of comments on my blogs! Haha, well in all seriousness I do have to thank you because most of you are close to me and I know full well that I am loved by my friends and family dearly. Except those people who hate me... they aren't included in that list. And the ones who never call me or email me, I guess they aren't really in that list either. Which reminds me! Oh my goodness so this morning i was awakened by my little brother handing me the phone and saying "I... think it's Amanda!", so i turn it on and low and behold it was her! :D Calling me from Mozambique, that was really cool hahaha.
So anyways! Christmas has come and gone. But it didn't feel like Christmas really to me. We had the tree, and the decorations, and I felt happy enough about it all. We baked and made all sorts of delicious goodies, and then I ATE all the delicious goodies. I bought gifts for everyone, and got some pretty cool gifts too. We went to a Christmas Eve service (which i actually ended up sleeping through... maybe that's the problem! lol) and had a little party with some friends afterwards. Me and joe hung out there for a bit and then drove home to watch a movie together. We ended up watching that silly baseball one... with the Napoleon Dynamite guy... Benchwarmers! That was it hahaha. Yeaaaaah. It had its moments... and lot of time that could have been spent doing other things hahaha, but it was a good time hanging out with Joe. But it still hasn't felt like Christmas. It could be because Malika isn't here for the first time in like... forever for Christmas. Or with school being so crazy busy right up until it started, and then me being sick these past few days. I don't know what it is. Probably nothing major i don't think. Just too much candy i bet =p. So Christmas night i couldn't sleep, and didn't get to bed until 6am or so. My stomach was really not feeling good, and i ended up sleeping until 2pm Boxing day. That sucked because by the time i was finally awake all of our family and friends that were over had left the huge brunch we had (and plus they took a ton of food with them hahaha). So that was disappointing not getting to see them. Then that afternoon i went to bed again at about 5 and slept until 10 or 1030 today. Needless to say i've gotten my fair share of sleep over the past day or two!
Well tomorrow is friday the something of December. I really have no idea haha. I want to get outside and go sledding, and then come home and clean my room entirely. I have a bunch of boxes here that haven't moved since i painted my room at the end of August. I bought big 20x30 inch picture frames that i want to get up too! Hopefully find or take some pictures to put into those. My room might never be finished at the rate I'm going! And i really don't want that to happen. It'll be nice to get this stuff moved and put away. I still have lots of my notes out from studying for my finals. =S I hope those went well. Currently I have a B- in Physics 130, a B in Engineering Mechanics 130, and I passed (Pass/Fail) my introduction to Engineering course. I am still waiting on my A- in Economics, B+ in Chem 103, and C+ in Math 100 hahaha, as longs as I pass Math I'm happy :)... Well i mean i want to pass all of my courses, but as you can see from my grade hypothesii I'm mostly only concerned about math. Well I'll let you all know how those went once i receive more final grades!
I'm... not sure how interesting that post was! It's like midnight here and so I do hope that it wasn't too drab :). Tomorrow after I clean my room in the early/all afternoon I want to take some pictures!! Both of my room being all clean and set up, and then of some other stuff. I'll be sure to post them on here! There's lots of snow outside *-)... maybe i can get some cool shots out there. Or maybe there's a squirrel still hiding in my shed that I could take some more photos of! :) haha well take care everyone! Merry Christmas, and I hope you have a very merry new years as well! ... whenever that is! Oh okay it was just the 27th, so we have another couple of days yet to go. Anywho! I'm going to crawl over all of my junk on the floor and go get ready for bed. Peace out ya'll.

My life thus far... err... maybe not.
Ahh yes. Midterms are over and the long weekend is upon me. I'm sitting in my room in one of my finest robes, Piña Colada in hand, enjoying some classical music and eating cucumber sandwerrches. Hahaha it's been so long since i've said that. But sadly no Piña Colada's or cucumber sandwiches. I had orange juice and some grapes earlier, and am sitting here in pajama pants. It has been a very relaxing weekend even without the wealthy lifestyle, and a lot of fun too! But first let me try to recap the past 6 weeks since I last wrote on here!
School.
Okay so on friday night me and Amanda did a whole bunch of things. After school we went to her house and she surfed facebook while I made a haircut appointment. I probably massaged her back at some point too, because i do that haha. I find it really stress relieving a lot of the time, and i hope she finds it relaxing too. Anyways, so i went to the mall and got my hair hacked off. It had gotten pretty long and me and Amanda were going to a dance on saturday night, so i had to look presentable. We had also decided that my dress pants were far too tight for me to wear out in public, so i tried to find replacements. I had already borrowed a dress shirt and tie from a buddy of mine, but since he is a tad shorter than i am we figured his pants would look pretty ridiculous on me. So then the idea was presented for me to just wear my dad's pants. Sure, i could work with that, throw a belt on them and tighten it a bit. It would work... right? WELL, that plan didn't exactly get very far. I pulled a pair out of his closet and immediately realized that while he's not huge by any means, i am a fair bit smaller than he is. So unless Amanda wanted to squeeze into the other unoccupied half for the dance.. they wouldn't fit. So i finally decided that i needed a new pair of dress pants. Thankfully i had Amanda here to chauffeur me around as i went all these places, because my car-- i mean... my dad's car; was in Canmore with him and Joe for the long weekend. So after the haircut and a trip to safeway to pick up some snacks we were off to my house to watch a The Office. Hahaha. I forgot which one we eventually watched, although it is pretty much guaranteed to be a good episode with that show.
After giggling away at that great cast of characters we headed back to Amanda's pad for her to finish up some Chemistry before we headed out for the evening. I don't exactly remember what all happened here, so i won't make stuff up to fill up more space haha. So she was able to get a lot of that done before we finally headed out at 730 or so and over to the Pants Store. Well since we don't actually have a store called "The Pants Store" in Edmonton to my knowledge, we went to Moores instead. Within 30 seconds of being in the store we had a sales associate leading us to my size of dress pants and moments later i had a pair in hand to try on. Standard black dress pants, 34 x 34. They fit like a charm, and looked pretty decent too! So we handed them in to be hemmed and took a look at their selection of ties and collared shirts while we waited. There are some horrible looking ties out there hahaha. Like you honestly have to wonder who would buy something like that? I'll have to find some examples of what i mean and post them next time, hoping that no one who reads this will find their favorite ties in my list =p . So we were finished there in short order and starving by this time, so we decided to make the short hop over to our local asian culinary eatery Beijing Beijing. When we got there we thought it looked really busy, but we were too hungry to travel elsewhere and had both agreed that we were craving chinese food. The server inside asked if we were having the buffet or not, but warned us that they would not be putting out any more food as the night went on, so whatever was left there was what we could eat. As incredibly unappetizing as that sounded to me at the time I said we would take a look and decide on a course of action. We trekked around the corner and took a look at the bits and pieces left of other people's meals. As we surveyed the wreckage the chef from the back came out and started adding a bunch of fresh ginger beef and other essentials. We looked at eachother and decided to get it while it was hot! It was a really good meal, and after being as hungry as we were it tasted all the better. After stuffing my face with a plate full of food i wanted to get some soup that i missed on my first pass. So i snuck off to get some but what i found was an oily rectangular pit with lukewarm yellow liquid in it, and i immediately lost my appetite for a hearty bowl of wonton soup. Instead i looked at their selection of desserts, and only found lemon Jell-o to look mildly appetizing. I grabbed a bunch of cubes and headed back to that good looking girl i had been sitting with. She was giggling away as i approached her with this bowl full of jiggling Jell-o cubes. I sat down and started laughing too, which inturn led me to drop one! :O :O Oh no! So with reaction speed like a cat... or a cobra, or some fast animal like that; i grabbed it as it bounced off of the tabletop and threw it into my mouth. Only to realize as it sat on my tongue that during its bounce it happened to gather debris from the table... This suspicion was confirmed as i began to chew and found several odd hard objects stuck to the side of it. I mumbled this around the foreign-object-infested-Jell-o to Amanda who burst out laughing. I was finally able to swallow the thing, and ate the rest with caution to not drop any. After we were done and paid for (and had each taken several of the complimentary candies at the counter) we headed to S. Commons to the theatre! It was fun! We stood in line for our theatre to open because it was being cleaned, and we saw this machine that spat out balls with little toys in them for a quarter. Giddily we waited for all the 6 year old girls to leave before i went over and deposited our quarters with glee. We got some bracelets and a little Pokemon. Surprisingly it was one that i knew from the originals, and i still remembered from Grade 5 what it was called. Amanda said i was a geek because i knew what it was (#151 - Mew :p). Hahaha it is probably true though. Ah well i can't help that i have a good memory for some things. Anyways! So it's late, and people are waiting for this. The movie, Dan in Real Life with Steve Carell was awesome! 5/5. Just that good. I'd recommend it anytime =). After the movie was done we headed back to my house to drop me off, and while we were there we watched a The Office again, after seeing Steve Carell in another setting. ANYWAYS. I'll... get to the rest of these past 6 weeks another time then. Until next time! Cheers!

Hopefully not a suicide note... and... wow yeah i am totally joking. :| hhahaha. Seriously guys? You actually think i'd post that after midterms?? ... sheesh. A long time ago, but somehow in the future...

So a lot has happened over the course of the past few weeks since my last entry. Where to start...
Well as I'm sure most of you know by now, my sister's fiance got really sick a few weeks back and ended up in the hospital. As it stands now Andrew's vision has returned, his blood pressure is more or less stable, the damage to his heart was permanent but not life threatening, his kidneys aren't functioning and he will have to undergo dialysis 3 times a week for the next year. They are looking at the option of daily at-home dialysis, as an alternative method for a good number of those months until he can get a transplant. He is on the transplant list now, but has to wait for the autoimmune disease to be completely clear of his system in order to go ahead with that (hence the year of dialysis). So that's been a pretty difficult time for them as you can imagine. They made the decision to bump their wedding up from December 31, to just under two weeks from today. Monday October 8, 2007 was the arranged date. Thanksgiving Day. I think that it is pretty fitting. I probably would have said the same thing for October 7 haha, "It's the day before Thanksgiving... fitting, hey?". So you know, anywhere within a week of that date would have worked for me. And that... totally reminds me of an error calculation. 'Thanksgiving ±δ7 days' . Wow... how incredibly sad is that.
I have an Economics 204 Midterm on Friday October 5th, and then a Chem 103 Midterm on Thursday October 11. So right in that same week long period around the wedding. I am really really excited about getting to fly out to Ottawa for her wedding. Both as her brother, and from a photography standpoint! They want me to "be the photographer" for the wedding, which i am excited to be able to do. With the Canadian Dollar on par or above the USD like it has been recently, i have been scouring the internet for good deals on camera stuff. I ended up purchasing a battery grip for my camera, which slides into the camera's battery slot, and then gives you a two battery compartment on the very bottom as well as a vertical shutter release. This was a package on Amazon.com and came with two Canon batteries as well. Buying this same thing from a Canadian retail outlet would have cost somewhere around $330 CDN. I got it for $110 with S/H from the US. Not a bad bargain, and i will definitely make use of the many advantages that i get with longer battery life (not to mention that vertical shutter release!). The second set of purchasing was done today at 6:30 AM on my way out the door to school. I was on B&H's website (a renowned photography outlet) and i was planning on buying an external flash unit for the indoor wedding shots. I got a popup that informed me that their store would be closed from 5:00 PM on Tuesday - October 2 for maintenance. So i decided that i had might as well order it now and be guaranteed it for the wedding. So i picked up the Canon 430ex as well as a diffusing cone that goes on the end to give more even light distribution (Gary Fong's Lightsphere II Clear for anyone who knows/cares :). The price on that unit was a pretty decent bargain in my opinion. I got the flash and the diffuser with priority 1-2 day shipping to Canada, for ~$315 . The same flash unit and diffuser at a store here would easily sell for around $450 together (and i'd have to track it down, which can be a challenge for those diffusers i've found). So all in all, i spent some money. But i feel like i got a lot more for my money's worth =D . Plus i honestly can't wait to use it! Hahaha and my camera will look so 'tricked out' with these new doo-dads. The stuff i ordered this morning (the batteries and grip i ordered on the weeked) has already shipped and is set to arrive tomorrow already! I can't wait =)
So what else is new... School is going alright. Physics sucks. Seems to be a trend around the U of A this year... I really am enjoying Economics, Chemistry, and Engineering Mechanics (it's like Engineering Physics). But more on those later! I need sleep as it is.... PEACE-
Joe all dressed up in his new suit!

A sunset out by the International Airport.

Summerside.

This moth that visits my lit window every night. Okay maybe it's not the SAME moth every night, but who knows!

Cheers!
Most indubitably,

Tomorrow is not a new beginning, but just another road taken.
Tomorrow (Wednesday September 5, 2007) I start my qualifying year into my 4 year Engineering degree. And after being out of high school for more than a year now, I am a tad bit nervous about heading back into it all. I am told that i have nothing to worry about. That i will adapt to university life like everyone else. That everything from my high school course material that i have forgotten will all come back to me [magically] right away. I... am not sure what to think about it all. I think i am fairly good with just rolling with new things as they come in life, so i am not too worried about that. I just... well it's a long hard road coming up, and i will have to put of a ton of energy and time into it. I am actually excited about the amount of work i am going to have to put in, do NOT get me wrong there haha. I wanted a challenge in school, and it looks like Chemical (or Materials) Engineering was there to meet me. I'm not saying that you can't be challenged in sciences, or arts, or business, or education... okay maybe not in arts though. Hahaha, i'm... kidding of course! I am simply saying that this is MY challenge, and I greatly look forward to it.

It came as a shock to me...
So i just went from moving around my room and cleaning it all, to totally repainting it all (it was desperately needed haha), and putting up some new frames and art (some of my pictures would be cool). I think my room should look pretty nice with its new colours. Now i just need to fill all these blasted holes in the walls!!

The Past Few Days...
Well it is Tuesday morning right now. My plan for today is to clean and organize my room, but also i want to move my furniture around in the process. For those of you who may read this, and not be home for another week, i won't say what i've done so as to let it be a surprise hahaha. I sound so secretive... it's nothing really that huge, no basement suite or anything like that unfortunately... But it is such a tiny room down in my basement too, i don't think i'd be very comfortable there actually. But i mostly just hope that i can get this done today, it was my plan for yesterday too, and then i remembered i had promised my friend Ian that i would hang out with him. I don't like going back on my word, so i put this off to today. I just learned this morning that we have window washers coming to clean the in and out of all of our windows at around 10. That might throw a kink into my plan, and delay it some if he has to be occupying my room for said amount of time (not to mention me having to make him a path to my window haha). Anyways i still think that i can get that done relatively easy over the next few hours here.
So yesterday like i mentioned i went to hang out with Ian. He needed to go to the U of A first to sign up for a band audition, so i took him there. After finding literally no parking near where we had to be, i just dropped him, and circled the block for 10 minutes waiting. Before this we decided to go find some new shoes for school. So we had hit up south commons for a bunch of stores, and found very very little (I still liked these ones at Payless Shoes that Amanda and I had been eying, but we wanted to find more). So we decided to trek to West Ed after signing him up for his audition at the U. We checked out a ton of stores there, and spent soo much time just looking for the right style and colours. A few hours later we stopped at Athletes World and both saw a pair of shoes not 10 seconds from our entering the store. Hahaha, as it turned out, they were actually the same pair of shoes just in a different colour. The store was holding a By One Get One 1/2 Off so we each saved 25% off of our shoes. My shoes are brown. =) I like my new shoes. I'll post a pic of them on here at the end.
When we went to West Ed I came in at the wrong entrance to the parking lot, so i circled around until i found Amanda's and my usual spot. We had to drive up and down rows to find a stall as it was really full, finally i saw a free one at the end and was moving towards it when a blue jeep came from a mainer road straight towards it, we both stopped and i figured since he was facing straight on that it would be easier for him to just pull in, so i waved him forward. (I was also just trying to be a nice guy... like i usually am.) So i waited a second... he didn't move, so i motion him into the stall again. And... ... no motion from his part, so i put my window down a bit and was starting to wave him in again when he quickly turned towards me facing me head on, and then whipped up beside me with his window down and started screaming at me "You F@#KING RETARD!! Learn how to f@#king drive, a--hole!!" Then went tearing off down the strip and onto another main road. Here i was, just trying to be a nice guy to him, and he goes and insults my driving skills. I didn't think that was deserved. When me and Ian were on Whyte Ave however, i saw what should have been the makings of a fine car accident. This chinese lady (sorry that she had to perpetuate this stereotype) heading westbound was stopped at a red light (i was traveling eastbound). But she was not stopped for long, she saw a person she was picking up come out of a building on the South-West corner of the intersection, and... while still facing a red light, pulled a left turn into the busy intersection narrowly avoiding cars traveling into the safety of a green light. Then she stopped as casually as can be and picked up her passenger. The only thought going through my head was a series of questions relating to how SHE can pass a drivers test, but someone with ACTUAL skill such as Amanda get caught up in the trifles of the small things. It doesn't make much sense to me actually. Anyways, so after several hours of shopping we finally departed with a pair each. As much as i can use a new pair of runners as well, I will cross that bridge when i need them. Ian on the other hand =p wanted to drive all the way back to S Commons after this, and go back to several of the stores to get some dress shoes, and then find a new pair of runners too. I felt bad for telling him no, but i was so tired from the previous 4 hours of shopping and driving, that i just said i wouldn't go. So we hung out for about 30 minutes at my place before he decided to go home for supper.
At Kendall's birthday party the other night we had rented 2 movies (under Tom's account of course hehe). We watched the first, Breach, before kendall decided that 10 was late enough and sent us all home. I really wanted to see the second, and tried to watch it later that night (i started after 1am) but i didn't get far before waking up a lot later on in the movie haha. So after Ian left i had a brainwave and decided to just rip the movie to my harddrive to watch later (or burn to DVD). The first two (very long) attempts at the ripping both failed as the program tried to encode it as a movie file. By the time i started my third trial the movie was already overdue, and late fees at the store are brutal. So i ran in to the store with the first movie and talked to the guy there (It was that friendly black guy Amanda) for a bit, telling him that i wasn't QUITE done with Renaissance (the second movie) hahaha. So he felt sympathetic and told me that he would take away one of the late charges from the account. That was nice of him.... i just hoped he'd take them ALL away hahaha. So i went home, and hooours later this thing finally finished ripping (it turned out i accidentally set the quality up really high, so it was 1.6GB instead of 0.7GB). It actually works! And it looks really nice too! And... yeah now i just need to watch it. Seeing that i just confessed to movie piracy on my personal blog *-).... What else have i been up to? Ah well i should probably wrap this up and throw some pics on for the ADD among us : )

Here're some I bet you are all sick of seeing, but I'll put them here for more people to check out haha. =)

I found this strange mushroom in my backyard when i was walking around with my 50mm Macro lens the other day.

Haha the geek inside of me posted this picture. Not the Star Wars geek, or the video game geek (Just because me and Tom know what those Servbots from Megaman are called...sheesh), or the sci-fi fantasy world geek... just the regular type of geek that thinks this looks cool =)
And finally...

My new shoes. I plan on getting some "in use" shots today. Of me on a park bench or something... naked of course. :| I... don't even want to think how disturbing that is. =) Hahahaha ahhh yeah. Cheers!
Growth takes a great deal of patience i gather...
"Let me ask you something. If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other? " - God in the film Evan Almighty.
I think that too often we hope that God will just grant us what we ask of Him, without us understanding what He wants from us. He wants us to show discipline and effort, to prove to Him that we actually are willing to get our hands dirty doing what He will ask. If God thinks that we need more patience, I believe that He will put circumstances into our path that will make that obvious to us. In that way He puts the ball into our court, and gives us the opportunity to ask Him to give us patience. Like this quote says (I haven't actually seen the movie yet, although i really want to), He probably isn't just going to zap us with it, but He'll give us chances to grow in it. God knows what we can handle, and if He pushes us to do more, to give more, to go farther with Him, then He believes (well He KNOWS haha) that we can do it.
There was a clip from the movie Facing the Giants that was shown on sunday at City Centre Church talking about this. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vB59PkB0eQ ) In the clip there is a coach encouraging a football player to keep going. He is kneeling beside him on the ground as the player engages in an exercise known as the "death-walk" where you must carry another person on your back and walk on your hands and legs (no knees) a certain distance. As he moves alongside this kid he keeps saying "Don't quit!! You promised me your very best, your all!! Don't stop! Don't quit on me!! Your best, your best!! Keep going 'til you have nothing left!! I know you can give more, just a little farther!". I really think God wants us all to grow so much more, to be so much more than we are now. He wants us to give Him our best, our all; because when we do, he is showing us how to be stronger, wiser, more patient, more courageous, and more loving. Basically to be more like Him.

Well today... work kinda sucked *-)... haha. Actually it was alright. Nothing really special happened though i don't think. I woke up this morning and could barely move i hurt so bad. I don't even have any idea why. I felt really sick to my stomach and a little later got a killer headache. I slept pretty much right up until i was supposed to work. Work started off pretty brutal though, with me not feeling well I had a hard time being happy towards customers =p. It all worked out alright though, and i felt better a few hours into my shift. I don't know who cares to hear any of this, but i don't care if you do or not, i'm here to write stuff....
My mom's friend passed away last night. She had been sick for quite a while with cancer and now she's finally gone home. I read the email that my parents got in regards to it on my way home from work, and burst into tears as i read what her husband had to say (they also have 3 young kids). "She is already deeply missed. She was an amazing wife, terrific mother to our kids, and my best friend." Then he signed off the email with these words, which struck me as a really powerful statement.
"Reassured by what is certain.
Christopher"
After having just had your wife pass away, being able to say something like that speaks so strongly of your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. I'm bawling as i write this lol. I wish i had that faith. I am working at getting to know God more, and am making an active effort to do it, but i'm not there yet. Not that i suddenly expected to be, it's just a statement. My prayers go out to the Zoolkoski family, that God would continue to show them His goodness, and to be their solid rock of certainty as they step forward into life.
This is my prayer for us all...

My second!
I was taking a look through some of my old photos, seeing what cool stuff i could possibly enter into the Costco Employee Photo Contest. I came across some pretty good memories (and some nice shots ;P), so i thought that i'd post some! .... again, i dont think anyone knows about this page hahaha. So i'll pass the word around (and maybe start blogging!). I can't promise anything, but why not hey? Get a space to just voice my opinions, hopefully not piss anyone off in the process lol, and hopefully post some photos that i take in the mean time. Well here it goes! =)

-Sunset in Tofino, BC.
.jpg)
-A Vietnamese Sea Leopard... or you know, LESS cool. It's a regular Sea Lion.
.jpg)
-Local skater in Tofino, BC.
.jpg)
-Mountains of BC from the Pacific Ocean.
.jpg)
-Child in Mozambique.
.jpg)
-It looks like a painting hey?

-Another Mozambican kid.

-We came across this wolf one day on the beach in Tofino, BC. It looked so soft lol.

-Sunset from Karangu Valley Camp, Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.
.jpg)
-My... totally normal cousin Noah =p

-See, he is totally normal... er. Some of the time =)

-Canada Day fireworks.
Well I think that about does it for this time round. I can't wait to get some more shots to post on here from my new Canon DSLR, those should be pretty wicked as well. Me and Amanda watched a movie called Memento the other night, it was really interesting. Some language and violence in it, but a really cool movie if you ever get a chance to see it. Basically, some bad guys break into this guys house, and attack him and his wife. He takes a blow to the head and loses his short term memory (the ability to make new memories), and his wife is murdered. The movie is then about his quest to find the killer and get his revenge, all while not being able to remember day to day (and minute to minute) events. Ooh, its a thriller haha. See ya'll later.
